internet art

looking through the artist lists on http://www.tate.org.uk/netart/ I think Andy Deck had a great idea. Using both the power of the internet and javascript, he made artwork that utalizes the internet, and not just point-click and move on. I like how it saves what one has made so that others can change it.

I did not like http://www.heise.de/tp/r4/kunst/war/war1.htm as much. i understand how it uses javascript nicely, but I don't think it uses the power of the internet as nicelys as Deck's artwork.

http://christinamcphee.net/la_conchita.html was a interesting site, I did enjoy how it made some links to wikipedia, in case anyone did want to know of the names mention. It also had a conceptionally interesting look. not uniformal at all.

ARTC 331 Portofolio Website review

The first site I looked at when reviewing portofolio sites was http://www.anatol.de/

Although the site looks professional, the opening flash is a bit confusing. I did not know what the site was about in the first four seconds I was there. Also, to activate the home bar, one must click and scroll over each of the links. This involves some commitment to memeory.

http://www.artcoup.com/movie.html was the second site I checked out.

In the first couples seconds I was on this site, I knew it was a photography site, first thing I saw when I got there. Navigation is fairly easy on the site, only complaint is that the font is difficult to read. The site as a certain "heroin" aspect to it, which makes the viewer want to come back for the daily photographs. Consistency on the site is also done very well, as well as the visual organization.

The http://www.julianwatsonagency.com/ was another decently done site, after I got past the loading screen. I did not realize I had to click the name first in order to get any type of navigation bar, but after that, the purpose of the site was evident. Navigation and consistency were kept, well, consistent, looks very well. Scroll over icon are easily understood, and the colors of the site let one know what they are looking at and not squinting to make out words.

http://www.flatlineronline.com/ was the last site I looked at. Was'nt quite sure what the site was about at first. Navigation was a little difficult to with the size of the font. Consistency was done well in presentation. Once I knew where everything was, navigation began to get easier, took some commitment though.

When designing my site, I plan to use the consistency that most of these sites suggest, however, I will use the K.I.S.S (keep it simple, stupid) method much more. These sites have graphics added that make the sites look nice, but might have slower load times, and for some people, might not want to wait that long. Afterall, people are impatient.
